Museology is a one-stop shop for local museums in Minnesota. We’ll help you develop a user-friendly collections management policy, or an interpretive plan that inspires new approaches to sharing your story. We specialize in exhibit planning and implementation because we love creating moments of discovery and resonance for all museum visitors.
Exhibit development is Museology’s specialty. We draft direct and lyrical scripts built from thorough research, and our concept drawings help you share your vision with potential partners or funding organizations. Our process and experience make it easy for small museums to tackle ambitious projects.
We bring stories to life in the Museology shop. We create original cases, mounts, dioramas, kiosks, reading rails, interactive displays, environmental structures, and anything else your story requires. Our designs integrate the exhibit with the style, tone, and floor plan of your building in order to facilitate a visitor’s exploration without imposing any one path through your museum’s story.
Interpretive Planning is about finding your story. This is why Museology’s approach to the interpretive planning process is so hands-on and on-site. We survey your visitors, spend time in your community, and dive deeply into your collection to find stellar objects, images, and stories in order to help you create an Interpretive Plan that leaves your board, staff, donors, and other partners excited to share your organization’s story.
Your collection is the heart and soul of your museum. Museology can help you develop the policies and procedures you need to manage donations, loans, and deaccessioning. Our Collections Plans can help you develop storage systems that protect even your most delicate artifacts.
